„With online studies I can work full-time and be flexible enough to get a degree!“

SIBE-student Malgorzata Kapral talks about her experience during the studies at SIBE - Program: M.A./MBA (USA)

Malgorzata Kapral started her online studies at SIBE after graduating from her Master´s in German Studies. She will finish the M.A./MBA (USA)-program in 2019.

Can you briefly start by telling in which company you currently work? When did you start there and what are your tasks?

I am working for an engineering company in Germany – I-Care Deutschland GmbH, specializing in vibration, lubrication, infrared thermography, ultrasound and other modern solutions for monitoring, predictive maintenance and reliability excellence for the customers from various industries all around the world. I started to work there on 2nd of January 2018, and I am responsible for the complex office administration, project planning & scheduling, as well as for invoicing and support of business development and our team.

How would you assess the combination of full-time work with work-integrated studies?

Digitalization and globalization made it possible for people to study, travel, and work not only in the country they are living in. One of the results is the M.A./MBA (USA) -program I am currently carrying out. Studying online with other students in the international environment gave me an opportunity to develop my critical thinking, expert skills and implement the knowledge gained during the modules into the everyday specialized situations. The variety of topics and depth of the materials allowed me to explore different areas of business world and awaken the curiosity for more. As a student and committed full-time employee, I find work-integrated studies a perfect solution. I didn’t want to give up the job to get my higher education level. With online studies I can work full-time and be flexible enough to get a degree.

You´ve completed two third of the program now, how do you manage to organize yourself and combine your work with your study program?

Working full-time and studying on-line in the same time gave me an amazing opportunity for personal and professional growth. I am a very ambitious and motivated person, but the challenge of simultaneously studying and working full-time requires an organizational talent and planning & scheduling skills. Nevertheless, interesting modules and opportunity to implement the gained knowledge into professional life allowed me to combine these two worlds and successfully get through the program. I also always have my smartphone and my netbook everywhere I go, so studying during my business travels or in a spare free time is a great opportunity for me to read the materials, complete my tasks and assignments, learn something new and have fun doing it anytime I want. This flexibility is a great advantage of MAMBA online program.

How important is the formation of a professional international network during your studies? How do you benefit from the MAMBA program in terms of building your network?

During my studies I am able not only to gain the knowledge and study at international universities, but also to get to know people from other countries and with different backgrounds. I find it very inspiring to listen to their stories and learn from their experiences. Our discussions are always very passionate, and we help each other while facing issues. With many of my fellow students I am already connected on the LinkedIn, and we build our networks together. Thanks to the MAMBA program I got an opportunity to get to know many interesting people and broaden my horizons.

Do you have tips for people who are considering applying for the MAMBA program?

Believe in yourself and think outside the box. Different backgrounds and experiences are the key aspects, which make this program so interesting and successful.

What are your plans for the future in terms of continuing education?

I plan to finish my MAMBA program in March 2019 and I have decided to pursue a higher degree, the DBA program at SIBE and SISP. I already sent my application and wait for the next steps of the process. I am convinced about the high quality and professional status of these institutions and will be honored to be one of their international representatives. I believe I have the right qualities to complete this program and ambition to go for more. Within my organization, I am motivated to continue developing my qualifications and my expertise. By taking a responsibility for myself and my work performance, I am a part of the growth of the team and the whole company. I am happy to learn something new every day and want to continue to explore.
