„Managing the existing medical sector business of Ensinger in India“

SIBE-student Arvind Kr talks about his experience during the studies at SIBE - affiliated company: Ensinger GmbH – Study Program: M.A./MBA (USA)

After studying B.Tech (Polymer Technology) Arvind Kr decided to start the M.A./MBA (USA)- program at SIBE in 2018. Since then, he has been working for Ensinger GmbH in India, his affiliated company throughout the studies.

First Degree: B.Tech (Polymer Technology)
Course name: MAMBA07b
Year of graduation: 2020

Dear Arvind, can you briefly start by telling in which company you currently work? When did you start there and what are your tasks?

I currently work at Ensinger in India. To give you an idea: Ensinger India is a subsidiary of Ensinger GmbH with registered offices and warehouses in India. It was established in 2013 and we are one of the leading manufactures of Stock Shapes (Rods, Sheets, and Tubes) for engineering plastics.

The industries served by Ensinger India are mechanical and plant engineering, building industry, automotive, aerospace, medical technology, food technology, oil production, electrical engineering, semiconductor and many more.

I started working here in January of 2019. My task is to acquire new customers in the medical industry. Furthermore, I am responsible for managing the existing medical sector business of Ensinger in India.

What makes it exciting for you to work for Ensinger?

The most exciting part of working here at Ensinger is the employees’ bond, understanding the situation and the support given during difficult times. The ethical culture of the company remains effective as the organization respects human rights worldwide and all the employees are treated with dignity and respect. I am really delighted to work here as Ensinger values all employees’ efforts. Additionally, one of the most important aspects for me personally, is the funding for my M.A. /MBA (USA)-program, because it is the key to my present and future career growth.

Why did you decide to combine full-time work abroad with work-integrated studies?

After studying engineering in my bachelors’ I always wanted to pursue an MBA full time to enhance my career. The MA/MBA course was an excellent option for me to combine both work and studies. Therefore, my main reason to combine full-time work and studies is, that within the concept of SIBE, I can implement the theory of the studies into my work. This benefits both Ensinger as an organization and myself, by improving my management skills.

Surprisingly, this opportunity got to me with the help of LinkedIn as I came to know about this course.

How important is the formation of a professional international network during your studies? How do you benefit from the MAMBA program in terms of building your network?

Building an International network is always a great advantage. My most valuable network has been with the instructors at University. They have helped me improve my skillset with their teaching. Furthermore, their feedback supported my competency development strongly throughout the last 8 months.

The other key network is my peers. It is a new experience for me to share the class with foreign students. Hearing about their experiences and sharing my own while learning a new subject was exceptional so far.

You´re now a few months into the program now, how do you manage to organize yourself and combine your work with your study program?

It’s been eight months since I have started the program and I have more than a year to go. The first two months were very challenging and as days passed, I found the path to manage studies and work equally. To organize myself I started to prepare a plan for every week on how to finish assignments and my work in time. Currently, I usually spend three to four hours every day during the weekdays and six hours at the weekend to have a successful learning experience.

In which ways would you say your studies at SIBE benefit you the most? To whom would you recommend this program?

The work-integrated studies add more benefit for me personally. As I first planned to do an MBA full time, the M.A./MBA (USA)- program gave me an opportunity to combine my job and the studies. This is an excellent platform where students gain experience with respect to the market environment and where they can implement new management skills onto it.

I would like to recommend this program to undergraduates, who are willing to pursue an MBA combined with a full-time job at the same time.

In your opinion, what should modern managers take out of the program to be best prepared for their tasks?

I think, the role of a manager is to motivate their staff and monitor their employees’ activities and performance, to meet the goal of the organization.

Some of the takeaways from the M.A./MBA (USA)- program are strategic planning methods, critical thinking, Leadership activities, better communication, time management, a broader worldview and increased creativity.

Do you have tips for people who are considering applying for the M.A./MBA (USA) program?

If you are looking for a work-integrated MBA course, I would suggest, that this is the right option. The course is scheduled in a way where you can gain knowledge and have the chance to implement theory directly into your work to see results. The structure of the course is well framed and the university values your feedback very much. Professors in the University have a lot of experience in their respective field and so far it has been my pleasure to be a part of this program.
